{ Me } – Capturing The Breaths Between The Moments

So as wedding season closes for me and some serious editing begins to take place, I begin to breathe normally again. In the rush and craziness that IS wedding season, it is hard to really take time to reflect on your business, who you are, where you are going. At that moment, you are in the craziness and it lasts for 3 straight months! The whole while, you just pray to God every night that your family doesn’t forget you, your husband forgives you, that your computer can hold just one more photo, and that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t get me wrong, I love weddings and wedding season, but it is exhausting work. Especially when you put your whole being into every wedding client that you work for. At the end of the day, there is little left but a sore body and an exhausted mind. Sorry honey, for my absent mindedness, and inability to pry myself out of bed this past 3 months! But now it is over, and I can breathe and I am reminded that I am human. I may be a Super human, but still human

Today, I met with an absolutely LOVELY bride-to-be, who reminded me to really tap into myself again. It was in talking to her about what I do, who I am and my viewpoint on capturing a wedding, that I realized how much I have grown in this past 3 months. Like any creative process, the journey is never ending. You will always change and grow, and hopefully you change in a positive way. It was in asking me what I do to capture my images, that really got me to think. I have always know I am a “clean” photographer. I don’t rely on crazy editing fads, tilt lenses, or anything special lighting tricks to capture my images. I want to capture images that are classic and portray the event in EXACTLY the way it happens. I have grown to realize that “I” am the tool that gets the job done. It is my relationship with my bride and grooms, my ability to make people laugh, the comfort level we create, and my willingness to be emphatic and ” get it” that sets my images apart. Because in being that person, who no one else can be, I offer a unique candid look into the day. I am able to get people to let their guard down, and to do more than pose for a camera. They can be themselves. And in doing that I can do what I am good at, Capturing those breaths between the moments. It is those breaths that separate who I am and where I am going as a photographer. It is those breaths, not the moments, that make us all realize the true beauty in the day. The vulnerabilities are beautiful, when you trust someone enough to let them capture it. I am honored that I have been chosen by so many of you to capture your wedding day. So keep breathing… I can’t wait to capture all the little life in between

Tyce and I had a rare Saturday ALL to ourselves this past weekend and so we took the opportunity to take the Scout out and do a little 4×4 ing in the Desert. I didn’t take too many shots, for some reason, when I am not working, I just don’t pick up the camera too much, but here are some of the ones I did take

I am late in posting this, but I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I am not shooting much these last two weeks of the year. Instead I am winding down, spending time with the family and getting all in order for a new year. I can’t wait for all that I have scheduled for next year, it promises to be a great one! I don’t have any photos of my Christmas to share.. my husband bought me a Flip and I spent the whole day recording video, I forgot to pick up my camera! We are off to Disneyland.. I promise to take more photos while there for you all.. and stay tuned, the blog is about to go through a dramatic face lift

{All Work No Play, Yeah Right!} – Family Time at The Golf Industry Magazine Shoot

My youngest daughter celebrated her THIRD birthday this Saturday. To celebrate, we headed up to Payson/Pine to let the kids pay in the snow. I had a cover shoot for Golf Industry Magazine early Sunday morning in Payson, so we thought Pine was a great place to get away to. You can see some of my shooting experience here. Contractual agreements with the magazine prevent me from showing any images until the magazine has been published, but I will share once I am able Ryleigh thought the cold was too much and wanted to get back into the car almost as soon as we got out into the snow. Ashlynn had a great time throwing snow balls at Daddy. She wanted to make snow angels, but she was too cold. Here are some photos from the trip.

For the girls’ party my husband wanted to go to Amazing Jake’s instead of the party we throw at our house every year. He thought it would be easier, no clean up and lots for the kids to do, but lets just say next year I am INSISTING it be back at our house again. I hated being rushed out of our party room, forcing the kids to be confined in a small NOISY poorly lit room and eat cake when they were so distracted by all the toys outside was hard. Then having to wrangle and keep an eye on the kids was a mess and I didn’t even get a chance to say good bye to half my guests since it was so HUGE, everyone just sort of meandered out when they felt they had enough. It just isn’t my style of party I guess. But the kids loved the toys and rides, so there was a positive. I think a bounce house in the backyard would have done the same trick, lol. I guess I am upset that I was too busy trying to keep up with their schedule I didn’t have time to enjoy it or even take any pics Here are some photos from the party The cake was made by Carol at www.sugarbuzzcakes.com It was yummy.

So, I know I say it a lot, but I really love my job. This weekend, I had a wedding in San Diego, so we packed up the whole family and make a little weekend trip of it. The girls had a blast at Balboa Park, the beach and Sea World. And I had so much fun watching them enjoy the trip. I love being able to provide the memories to my family while doing something I am so passionate about. I really have been blessed in this life.

{Ashlynn’s Brithday Trip to the North Pole} – My Family

My baby turned 4 yesterday. We are tired of buying toys that just break or they aren’t interested in. So this year, we decided instead of toys for the birthdays and holidays we were giving the children experiences. Ashlynn’s birthday experience was a trip to the north pol to ride on the Polar Express. We drove to Williams a little outside of Flagstaff to catch the train. Ashlynn got to sing Christmas Carols, Drink Hot Chocolate and eat Christmas cookies. We wrote noted to Santa and even listened to the reading of the Polar Express. When we got to the North Pole, Santa Boarded our train and gave each child a special bell from his sleigh, just like in the book. Ashlynn loved the trip!

{Halloween 2009} – Time With My Family

I loved spending a WHOLE day with my family this weekend. No shoots, no editing, just me and my family, it was wonderful! We met up with my step-son’s mother and some cousins for a Huge group trick-or-treat experience. While we were out, we stumbled upon a neighborhood Dj who had set up his equipment for the neighborhood to enjoy. The kids had a blast with Jeff with Start the Party.

{ I’m back!!!} – PA trip with Ryleigh

So Ryleigh and I left last week to head to Hershey PA to visit some friends and hit up Sesame place and Hershey Park. I had such a fun time being MOM for a week. NO distractions with work it was all abut her and I loved it. while we were back there, we met up with some of my “online” friends. We all belong to an online mothers group and have known each other for about 5 years, it was so fun to see them face to face. Here are some pics for you all
